Hi! Thank you so much for joining us! My name is Hannah Real Smith. I teach English full time at Jasper High School and love reading and learning about almost anything from Frankenstein to flowers. My passion for learning has also fostered my love for the outdoors: I might be the most annoying hiking budding - I take pictures of mushrooms to identify later and spout out useless nature facts like it's my full time job. That curiosity has gifted me with the knowledge to learn to love nature and its Creator even more. As one of my favorite Bible teachers says, "You cannot love that which you do not know", and over the course of my life, both my knowledge and love for flowers has continued to flourish.

"Playing" in my garden has turned into a decades-long passion project, and I'm thankful to finally be able to share that passion with you.

I grew up on a small farm in Detroit, Alabama where I was surrounded by agriculture - my dad was a forester; my Papaw, a vocational ag teacher; my Papa D, a Hereford cattle farmer; and both my Gran and Mamaw had (and continue to have!) large vegetable gardens, flower beds, and fruit trees scattered across their properties. Ag has always been in my blood, and while I have grown my own garden since becoming a home owner in 2018, I am thrilled to be able to share the fruits of my knowledge and experience with those in my community. I really do believe in the joy and peace that nature can bring - especially through flowers or a walk in the woods, and I'd love to play a small part in bringing some of that joy to your and your family.
